Our History
Our organization was founded in 1970 by a group of people, including several former inmates who wanted to take control of their lives, and volunteers who were committed to helping people who, upon their release from prison, had no place to live, no food, and no job.
On September 25, 1970, the Hull Specialized Social Agency obtained its letters patent and became incorporated as a non-profit organization (NPO). The letters patent have been amended twice since then.
Target audience
The Outaouais Community Residential Centers offer personalized services to individuals involved in the justice system, at both the federal and provincial levels, to assist them in their social reintegration.
Accommodation capacity
Our residential center can accommodate up to 35 people for stays ranging from a few days to several months.
Community supervision
On April 28, 2006, the Minister of Public Safety, Jacques P. Dupuis, announced the gradual implementation of the Act respecting the correctional system in Quebec. Our organization collaborated in the implementation of this reform and was given responsibility for the community supervision of 390 offenders. The services offered by our organization are intended to complement those of the correctional services and to meet the needs of offenders.
The staff
Our staff, who have studied in fields such as criminology, sociology, social work, psychology, and related disciplines, receive and have received training from the CRC that is focused on and centered around the mission of helping others. One example is training in crisis intervention. This diversity, reinforced by the training provided by the CRC, enables us to offer our clients assistance tailored to their specific issues, through the coordination of a concerted approach under the constant supervision of the Executive Director and Assistant Director.
